Representatives of eight municipalities gathered at the workshop For state aid that develops Serbia

Representatives of the Commission for State Aid Control and experts from the project Support to Commission for State Aid Control held a workshop for employees in the municipalities of Zlatibor, Macva and Valjevo districts, who were presented with the legal framework and the most common examples of state aid granting in the practice at the local level.

The workshop For state aid that develops Serbia was held on Zlatibor on Tuesday, 27 October 2020. It was attended by the representatives of the administrations of the City of Uzice and the municipalities of Arilje, Čajetina, Kosjerić, Mionica, Ljubovija, Knić and Požega.

The Deputy President of the Commission for State Aid Control, Ljiljana Blagojević, presented to the participants the new Law on State Aid Control, which entered into force in January 2020. She explained the work of the Commission, as an operationally  independent body established by the Government with competencies to authorise state aid granting.

The rules that are most often applied in the allocation of state aid for small and medium enterprises were presented by the leader of project Support to Commission for State Aid Control, Radmila Mihić. The project's key legal expert, Šefika Kurtagić, spoke about state aid for local infrastructure. She also presented to the participants an example of how to write a state aid programme/scheme. Rules and procedures in the process of granting state aid in Serbia were presented by senior expert Svetlana Šćepanović Markočević, who also discussed the area of ​​state aid for culture and media with the participants.

The workshop was organised by the project Support to Commission for State Aid Control, as the ninth gathering (local conference or workshop) under the umbrella title "For state aid that develops Serbia", which is one of the key messages of the project. Experts from European countries also took part in some of these gatherings, sharing experiences of good practice in the area of ​​Negotiating Chapter 8 (Competition Policy), of which state aid is an important part.
